RecycleBank Recognized as an Environmental Leader for Motivating People to Recycle
Recycling Reward Company Wins Philadelphia Sustainability Award
RecycleBank(TM), a rewards program that motivates people to recycle, announced today that it has been selected as a winner of the 2007 Philadelphia Sustainability Award. The Philadelphia Sustainability Awards are the first awards in the Philadelphia region to recognize those who are leading the way to a more sustainable future.
RecycleBank was among more than 50 businesses, non-profits, community organizations, individuals, schools and government agencies nominated for the award. Winners of this award represent solutions to some of the Philadelphia region's most challenging environmental and quality of life issues. They also symbolize strong commitments to community involvement, partnership building and economic feasibility. These awards were organized by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council and eight partner organizations to recognize all of those who are making Philadelphia a more sustainable place to live and pay tribute to those whose initiatives will help catapult Philadelphia to the ultimate goal - becoming the most sustainable region in America.
"Our first project was launched in Philadelphia and we are now launching our service across the United States," said Ron Gonen, CEO of RecycleBank. "We are proud to partner with local communities in order to better our environment."
RecycleBank is able to motivate households and communities to recycle by providing them with the tools to quickly and easily measure the amount of material each home recycles. The amount of material recycled is then converted into RecycleBank dollars that can be used at hundreds of local and national retailers and other rewards partners.
RecycleBank was launched with the goal of preserving the environment and demonstrating that businesses can drive brand value and growth with corporate citizenship. RecycleBank provides communities with a cost-effective and environmentally conscious solution to the rising cost of waste collection. The groundswell of national and local corporate participation in RecycleBank is driven by the potential competitive advantage companies already associate with their participation. As the number of partners and advertisers exponentially increases, corporate interests continue to drive recycling initiatives forward.
Currently, RecycleBank has more than 300 local and national rewards partners dedicated to its mission to encourage communities and households to recycle in exchange for RecycleBank dollars. National rewards partners include Coke, Patagonia, Whole Foods, Timberland and many others that allow households to redeem their RecycleBank dollars.
